The Divine Mercy Chaplet
Our Father, Hail Mary, Apostles’ Creed.
Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity
of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ,
—in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.
For the sake of His sorrowful Passion,
—have mercy on us and on the whole world.
Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One,
have mercy on us and on the whole world.
1. Alabaré
Alabaré, Alabaré, Alabaré a mi Señor
Alabaré, Alabaré, Alabaré a mi Señor.
Juan vio el número de los redimidos
Y todos alababan al Señor.
Unos oraban, otros cantaban,
Y todos alababan al Señor. Todos unidos, alegres cantamos
Gloria y alabanzas al Señor:
Gloria al Padre, gloria al Hijo,
Y gloria al Espíritu de Amor. Somos tus hijos, Dios Padre eterno,
Tú nos has creado por amor:
Te adoramos, te benedecimos,
Y todos cantamos en tu honor.
2. Alleluia! Sing to Jesus
Alleluia! sing to Jesus,
His the scepter, His the throne;
Alleluia! His the triumph,
His the victory alone;
Hark! The songs of peaceful Zion
Thunder like a mighty flood,
Jesus out of every nation
Hath redeemed us by His blood.
Alleluia! not as orphans
Are we left in sorrow now;
Alleluia! He is near us,
Faith believes, nor questions how;
Though the cloud from sight received
Him
When the forty days were o’er,
Shall our hearts forget His promise,
“I am with you ever more”?
Alleluia! Bread of heaven,
Thou on earth our food, our stay;
Alleluia! here the sinful
Flee to Thee from day to day;
Intercessor, friend of sinners,
Earth’s Redeemer, plead for me,
Where the songs of all the sinless
Sweep across the crystal sea.
Alleluia! King eternal,
Thee the Lord of lords we own;
Alleluia! Born of Mary,
Earth Thy footstool, heav’n Thy throne;
Thou within the veil hast entered,
Robed in flesh, our great High Priest;
Thou on earth both Priest and Victim
In the Eucharistic feast.
3. Ave Maria
Words & Music: Maria Parkinson
As I kneel before you,
As I bow my head in pray’r,
Take this day, make it yours,
And fill me with your love. Ave, Maria, gratia plena,
Dominus tecum.
Benedicta tu.
All I have I give you,
Ev’ry dream and wish are yours,
Mother of Christ, Mother of mine,
Present them to my Lord. As I kneel before you,
And I see your smiling face.
Ev’ry thought, ev’ry word,
Is lost in your embrace.
4. Crown Him With Many Crowns
Crown Him with many crowns,
The Lamb upon His throne;
Hark how the heav’nly anthem drowns
All music but its own:
Awake, my soul, and sing
Of Him Who died for thee,
And hail Him as thy matchless King
Through all eternity.
Crown Him the Virgin’s Son,
The God Incarnate born,
Whose arm those crimson trophies won,
Which now His brow adorn;
Fruit of the mystic rose,
As of that rose the Stem;
The Root, whence mercy ever flows,
the Babe of Bethlehem.
Crown Him the Lord of Lords,
Who over all doth reign,
Who once on earth, th’Incarnate Word,
For ransomed sinners slain,
Now lives in realms of light,
Where saints with angels sing
Their songs before Him day and night,
Their God, Redeemer, King.
Crown Him the Lord of life,
Who triumphed o’er the grave
And rose victorious in the strife
For those He came to save.
His glories now we sing,
Who died and rose on high,
Who died, eternal life to bring,
And lives that death may die.
Crown Him the Lord of love:
Behold His hands and side,
Rich wounds, yet visible above,
In beauty glorified.
No angel in the sky
Can fully bear that sight,
But downward bends his burning eye
At mysteries so bright.
Crown Him the Lord of peace,
Whose pow’r a scepter sways
From pole to pole, that wars may cease,
Absorbed in prayer and praise.
His reign shall know no end,
And round His pierced feet
Fair flow’rs of Paradise extend
Their fragrance ever sweet.
Crown Him the Lord of heaven,
One with the Father known,
And the blest Spirit through Him giv’n
From yonder Triune throne.
All hail, Redeemer, hail!
For Thou hast died for me;
Thy praise shall never, never fail
Throughout eternity.
5. Godhead Here In Hiding (Adoro Te Devote)
Godhead here in hiding
Whom I do adore
Masked by these bare shadows,
Shape and nothing more,
See, Lord, at Thy service
Low lies here a heart
Lost, all lost in wonder
At the God Thou art.
Seeing, touching, tasting
Are in Thee deceived;
How says trusty hearing?
That shall be believed;
What God’s Son has told me,
Take for truth I do;
Truth Himself speaks truly
Or there’s nothing true.
On the cross Thy Godhead
Made no sign to men;
Here Thy very manhood
Steals from human ken:
Both are my confession,
Both are my belief;
And I pray the prayer
Of the dying thief.
I am not like Thomas,
Wounds I cannot see,
But I plainly call Thee
Lord and God as he;
This faith each day deeper
Be my holding of,
Daily make me harder
Hope and dearer love.
O Thou, our reminder
Of the Crucified,
Living Bread, the life of
Us for whom He died,
Lend this life to me, then;
Feed and feast my mind,
There be Thou the sweetness
Man was meant to find.
Like what tender tales tell
Of the Pelican,
Bathe me, Jesus Lord, in
What Thy bosom ran—
Blood that but one drop of
Has the pow’r to win
All the world forgiveness
Of its world of sin.
Jesus, Whom I look at
Shrouded here below,
I beseech Thee, send me
What I thirst for so,
Some day to gaze on Thee
Face to face in light
And be blest forever
With Thy glory’s sight.
Amen.
6. Holy God We Praise Thy Name
Holy God, we praise Thy Name!
Lord of all, we bow before Thee;
All on earth Thy sceptre claim,
All in heav’n above adore Thee;
Infinite Thy vast domain,
Everlasting is Thy reign.
Hark! the loud celestial hymn
Angel choirs above are raising;
Cherubim and seraphim,
In unceasing chorus praising,
Fill the heav’ns with sweet accord:
Holy, holy, holy Lord.
Lo! the Apostolic train
Join, the sacred Name to hallow,
Prophets swell the loud refrain,
And the white-robed martyrs follow;
And from morn to set of sun,
Through the Church the song goes on.
Holy Father, Holy Son,
Holy Spirit, Three we name Thee;
While in essence only One,
Undivided God we claim Thee;
And adoring bend the knee,
While we own the mystery.
7. I Know That My Redeemer Lives
I know that my Redeemer lives!
What joy the blest assurance gives!
He lives, He lives, Who once was dead,
He lives, my ever-living Head!
He lives triumphant from the grave;
He lives eternally to save;
He lives in majesty above;
He lives to guide the Church in love.
He lives to grant me rich supply;
He lives to guide me with His eye;
He lives to comfort me when faint;
He lives to hear my heart’s complaint.
He lives to bless me with great love;
He lives to plead for me above;
He lives, my hungry soul to feed;
He lives to help in time of need.
He lives, my kind, wise, heav’nly Friend;
He lives and loves me to the end;
He lives, and while He lives, I’ll sing;
He lives, my Prophet, Priest, and King.
He lives to silence all my fears;
He lives to wipe away my tears;
He lives to calm my troubled heart;
He lives all blessings to impart.
He lives and grants me daily breath;
He lives, and I shall conquer death;
He lives, my mansion to prepare;
He lives to bring me safely there.
He lives, all glory to His name!
He lives, my Savior, still the same;
What joy the blest assurance gives:
I know that my Redeemer lives!
8. Jesus, My Lord, My God, My All
Jesus, my Lord, my God, my all!
How can I love Thee as I ought?
And how revere this wondrous gift,
So far surpassing hope or thought?
Sweet Sacrament, we Thee adore!
Oh, make us love Thee more and more;
Oh, make us love Thee more and more!
Had I but Mary’s sinless heart
To love Thee with, my dearest King,
Oh, with what bursts of fervent praise,
Thy goodness, Jesus, would I sing!
Thy Body, Soul, and Godhead, all!
O mystery of love divine!
I cannot compass all I have,
For all Thou hast and art are mine!
Sound, sound His praises higher still,
And come, ye angels, to our aid;
’Tis God! ’tis God! the very God
Whose pow’r both man and angels made!
Thou art with us, O dearest Lord,
Ever our guest and food to be;
Strengthen the faith of loving hearts
Who put their hope and trust in Thee.
Jesus, dear Pastor of the flock,
We crowd in love about Thy feet;
Our voices yearn to praise Thee, Lord,
And joyfully Thy presence greet.
9. O Salutaris Hostia (O Saving Victim)
O salutáris hóstia,
Quae caéli pándis óstium:
Bélla prémunt hostília,
Da róbur, fer auxílium.
Uni trinóque Dómino
Sit sempitérna glória:
Qui vítam síne término
Nóbis dónet in pátria.
Amen.
O saving Victim, op’ning wide
The gate of heaven to man below!
Our foes press on from ev’ry side:
Thine aid supply, Thy strength bestow.
To Thy great name be endless praise,
Immortal Godhead, One in Three!
O grant us endless length of days
In our true native land, with Thee.
Amen.
10. Sing My Tongue the Savior’s Glory (Pange Lingua Gloriosi)
Sing, my tongue, the Savior’s glory,
Of His Flesh the myst’ry sing:
Of the Blood, all price exceeding,
Shed by our immortal King,
Destined, for the world’s redemption,
From a noble womb to spring.
Of a pure and spotless Virgin
Born for us on earth below,
He, as Man, with man conversing,
Stayed, the seeds of truth to sow;
Then He closed in solemn order
Wondrously His life of woe.
On the night of that last supper
Seated with His chosen band,
He, the Paschal victim eating,
First fulfills the law’s command;
Then as food to His apostles
Gives Himself with His own hand.
Word made Flesh, the bread of nature
By His word to Flesh He turns;
Wine into His Blood He changes:
What though sense no change discerns?
Only be the heart in earnest,
Faith her lesson quickly learns.
Down in adoration falling,
Lo! the sacred Host we hail,
Lo! o’er ancient forms departing
Newer rites of grace prevail;
Faith for all defects supplying,
Where the feeble senses fail.
To the everlasting Father
And the Son Who reigns on high,
With the Holy Ghost proceeding
Forth from Each eternally,
Be salvation, honor, blessing,
Might, and endless majesty. Amen.
11. The King of Love My Shepherd Is
The King of love my Shepherd is,
Whose goodness faileth never,
I nothing lack if I am His,
And He is mine forever.
Where streams of living water flow,
My ransomed soul He leadeth,
And where the verdant pastures grow,
With food celestial feedeth.
Perverse and foolish oft I strayed,
But yet in love He sought me,
And on His shoulder gently laid,
And home, rejoicing, brought me.
In death’s dark vale I fear no ill,
With Thee, dear Lord, beside me,
Thy rod and staff my comfort still,
Thy Cross before to guide me.
Thou spread’st a table in my sight;
Thy unction grace bestoweth,
And Oh what transport and delight,
From Thy pure chalice floweth!
And so, through all the length of days,
Thy goodness faileth never;
Good Shepherd, may I sing Thy praise,
Within Thy house forever.
12. The Word of God Proceeding Forth (Verbum Supernum)
The Word of God proceeding forth,
Yet leaving not the Father’s side,
And going to His work on earth,
Had reached at length life’s eventide.
By a disciple to be given
To rivals, for His Blood athirst,
Himself, the very Bread of heaven,
He gave to His disciples first.
He gave Himself in either kind,
His precious Flesh, His precious Blood;
Of flesh and blood is man combin’d,
And He of man would be the food.
In birth, Himself as friend He gave,
At table, food and drink became,
In death, our ransom from the grave,
In reigning, our prize to attain.
O saving Victim, op’ning wide
The gate of heav’n to man below!
Our foes press on from ev’ry side:
Thine aid supply, Thy strength bestow.
To Thy great name be endless praise,
Immortal Godhead, One in Three!
O grant us endless length of days
In our true native land, with Thee. Amen.
13. This Is Jesus
14. To Jesus Christ Our Sov’reign King
To Jesus Christ our sov’reign King,
Who is the world’s salvation.
All praise and homage do we bring,
And thanks and adoration.
Christ Jesus, Victor!
Christ Jesus, Ruler!
Christ Jesus, Lord and Redeemer!
Thy reign extend, O King benign,
To ev’ry land and nation;
For in Thy kingdom, Lord Divine,
Alone we find salvation.
To Thee and to Thy Church, great King,
We pledge our hearts’ oblation
Until before Thy throne we sing
In endless jubilation.
Thy Majesty shall be the praise
And thanks of ev’ry nation;
To Thee the world with joy shall raise
The voice of exaltation.
May God the Father, God the Son,
And God the Spirit bless us!
Let all the world praise Him alone,
Let solemn awe possess us.
